Ray Douglas Bradbury was born in Waukegan, Illinois on August 22, 1920. He is an American writer of mystery of the fantastic kind, terror and science fiction. He is best known for his "Martian Chronicles," (1950) and the novel "Farenheit 451" (1953), about a world where books are illegal. His family moved several times before becoming established in Los Angeles in 1934, Bradbury was an eager reader in his youth besides being fond of writing. He wasn´t able to go to the university for financial reasons. The first thing he did to earn a living was sell newspapers. He decided to become self-taught by reading books and began to write his first stories with a typewriter. He began to sell his stories to magazines around 1940.

Ray Douglas Bradbury nació en Waukegan, Illinois, el 22 de agosto de 1920. Es un escritor norteamericano de misterio del género fantástico, terror y ciencia ficción. Es principalmente conocido por su obra "Crónicas Marcianas" (1950) y su novela "Farenheit 451," (1953) sobre un mundo en el que los libros son ilegales. Su familia se mudó varias veces hasta establecerse en Los Angeles en 1934. Bradbury fue un ávido lector en su juventud además de un escritor aficionado. No pudo asistir a la universidad por razones económicas. Lo primero que hizo para ganarse la vida fue vender periódicos. Posteriormente se propuso formarse de manera autodidacta a través de libros, comenzando a realizar sus primeros cuentos con una máquina de escribir. Sus trabajos iniciales los empezó a vender a revistas a principios del año 1940.

His story, "The Green Morning," unfolds when an earthling arrives on Mars to make it a place full of oxygen, with many trees and plants, such as the planet Earth.

Su cuento, "La Mañana Verde," se desarrolla en Marte, cuando un terrícola llega allí para convertirlo en un lugar lleno de oxígeno, con muchos árboles y plantas como el planeta Tierra.

The main character of the story or hero is thirty- one year old Benjamin Driscoll. He is the earthling who goes to Mars and decides to make it a place full of oxygen because his arrival was troubled by the lack of it. He will become a creator of oxygen throughout the story.

El personaje principal del cuento o heroe es Benjamin Driscoll, de treinta y un años de edad. Es el terrícola que decide convertir Marte en un lugar lleno de oxígeno porque su llegada fue accidentada por falta de él. Se convertirá en un creador de oxígeno a lo largo del cuento.

At the beginning of the story we are told how Benjamin is waiting for rain so that his seeds will grow into wonderful trees and we are told how he feels while waiting.

Al principio del cuento se narra como Benjamin espera la llegada de lluvia para que sus semillas den lugar a maravillosos árboles, y cuenta como se siente durante la espera.

After, the writer explains how Benjamin got to Mars and made the decision of being the creator of oxygen there. And finally, at the end of the story, the wonderful day arrives when the rain and the sun reach Mars and the seeds planted long ago grow into large green trees and plantations.

Despues el narrador explica como llegó Banjamin a Marte y como tomó la decisión de ser el creador del oxígeno en aquel lugar. Y por último, ya al final de la historia, cuenta como fue aquel maravilloso día en el que la lluvia y el sol llegaron a Marte y como sus semillas plantadas hace mucho tiempo daban lugar a grandes y verdosos árboles y plantaciones.




In my opinion, the decision the hero takes seems very good to me, since it helps nature and the people who live there, and the fact that he decides for himself, without anyone else´s opinion is very brave, I think, since he didn´t know what the neighbours of Mars, used to living with very little oxygen, would think of the decision of creating more vegetation to obtain better oxygen. Besides the end of the story shows that all work and patience in the end, if you believe in what you do, pays off.

En mi opinión, la decisión que toma el protagonista me parece muy buena por su parte ya que realiza una buena ayuda a la naturaleza y para la población, es más, decide él sin la opinión de ninguna otra persona, lo que me parece de valentía, ya que no sabía lo que los vecinos de Marte, acostumbrados a vivir sin apenas oxígeno, pensarían de su decisión de crear más vegetación para tener mejor oxígeno. Además, el final refleja que todo trabajo y con mucha paciencia al final, si crees en lo que haces, da sus frutos.
