Resumen del cuento: El cuento comienza explicando que un gorrión, siempre que sonaba el trueno de una tormenta, se tumbaba patas arriba para sujetar el cielo por si se caía. Así creía proteger la tierra y los seres que vivían en ella. El zorro no entiende que el gorrión, con sus patas enclenques, pueda sujetar el cielo y el gorrión le explica que cada uno tiene su cielo.

Resumen: Trata de un hombre que estaba aserrando una rama. Otro hombre pasa por allí y le dice que lo está haciendo mal y se va a caer con la rama. Nasrudín le contesta que él no es necio y que el hombre no es vidente. Más tarde se cae del árbol y corre tras el hombre convencido de que éste es vidente y le pregunta con insistencia cómo va a morir. El hombre, cansado de él, le dice que podría morirse en ese momento. Entonces Nasrudín se tumba y se queda inmovil. Cuando sus vecinos le encuentran, deciden llevarle al cementerio, pero como no saben llegar hasta allí Nasrudín se levanta y dice que por la izquierda es más rápido.

Nasrudin answered that he wasn´t foolish and the man wasn´t clairvoyant. Then, when Nasrudin fell from the tree, he ran after the man and repreatedly asked him how he would die. The man, tired of Nasrudin, told him he could die that very minute. Nasrudin lay down motionless. When his neighbours found him, they decided to take him to the cemetery, but since they weren´t sure how to get there, Nasrudin stood up and said it was faster to take the left road.
